Future concept

Windows Setup

This is an idea for preparing Windows installation choices and repeating a setup later. It is not in development and has no release date.

Concept

Draft setup flow

The tool would collect installation choices, show the selected disk and expected changes, and wait for confirmation. It would not choose a drive or erase anything on its own.

Safety

Planned checks

These checks would be required before an installation could start.

01

Backup confirmation

Confirm that important files are backed up and that the backup can be opened before continuing.

02

Recovery keys

Keep required BitLocker or device recovery keys outside the computer being changed.

03

Disk erasure warning

Show the affected disk and partitions clearly before any destructive operation.

04

Official Microsoft media

Use installation media obtained through official Microsoft channels rather than modified or unofficial images.

05

User-owned license

The user remains responsible for having a valid Windows license and complying with Microsoft's terms.

06

Final review

Review the plan, compatibility concerns, and expected data impact before approval.

Boundaries

Backups are still required.

Installing Windows can permanently remove data. A future tool would still require the user to verify backups, recovery access, hardware compatibility, installation media, licensing, and the selected disk. No automated check can guarantee that every device, driver, application, or recovery path will work after installation.
